Happy World Elephant Day! These incredibly intelligent (and unbelievably adorable) giants are the largest land animals on our planet. And they need wide, open spaces to thrive, which is why The Nature Conservancy is partnering with organizations across the world to help protect elephants and conserve their habitats.
In celebration of #WorldElephantDay, we're sharing one of our favorite 🐘 photos from The Nature Conservancy's 2018 Photo Contest. Beautiful photos like this one help capture the magnificence of elephants.

"I had my friend stand on the top of this hill with a light pointed at the moon. This helped create more of a focus on the beauty of the night sky. These roots helped lead your eye to him! This was taken at Lincoln City earlier this year. I utilize nature for my personal well being. It helps my state of mind, and allows me to express my emotions through the use of photography." - 💬 & 📷 by Jerad Armijo [2018 TNC Photo Contest]

ICYMI: Today, the @unitednations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released a new climate report that details the crucial relationship between land use and climate change.
A sustainable future is possible, but we need to revolutionize our current approach to land use and invest in nature. From increasing the scale and pace of forest restoration/protection to implementing sustainable food production practices, we have the solutions to change course from "business as usual".
Together, we can turn climate concern into ambitious action. 🌎
Nature unites us, but we all experience it in different ways. Show us nature through your lens when you enter The Nature Conservancy's 2019 Photo Contest and you could win an awesome prize.

🐻 Hot Bear Summer 🐻
When the temperature goes up and your ability to deal goes down, make like this bear at our Zumwalt Prairie Preserve and find some water to splash around in. Just like us, wild animals need to stay cool too and they do so in a variety of ways: taking baths, burrowing, staying dormant in hot months, rolling in mud, finding shade, and panting to remove excess body heat (just to name a few). How do you beat the heat in the summer?
