Lily and Lynx are stunning sweet kittens who were thankfully saved from living on the street! Just as the weather turned really cold in October, the Mayors Alliance for Animals received several calls about a group of 10 cats and kittens that had been dumped on the street in Sunset Park, and reached out to their list of cat rescuers. Three of us came out to feed the cats and figure out whether they were feral or not, and what to do about them. It was quickly obvious that Lily and Lynx were comfortable with humans and although they were scared and hungry, allowed us to pet them. Jodi was able to just pick them up and put them in a carrier, and bring them to Mirem who is fostering them. They are definitely happy to be indoors, and getting more playful and outgoing every day. We suspect that all the Sunset Park cats and kittens were part of a household that may have been evicted or had to move, and were unable to care for them. None of them were neutered. Since the alert went out, the feral adults have been trapped, neutered and released.
Friends, if you ever were to network a dog for us, this would be the time. I feel like I’m watching my own striped hyena tremble in terror. This guy needs our help and now. Share, talk with your rescues, pledge, tell your friends...let’s do it all. ❤️❤️❤️ Repost @standupforpitsfoundation with @get_repost
This is not easy to look at. This is not fair and shameful that humans have put this dog and countless others in this position.
Thousands of dogs are euthanized in Los Angeles every year and the focus should be and remain on lowering intake and euthanasia numbers. People need to STOP BREEDING DOGS, STOP BUYING DOGS, SPAY and NEUTER, EDUCATE THOSE WHO DON’T KNOW BETTER and ENFORCE ANTI BREEDING LAWS just to name a few simple solutions.
Please take a moment to network this dog. Thank you. #standupforpits#Repost@tomkiesche with @get_repost
Today I did my unofficial dogventory… Walking around discovering which dogs need the most help. Yesterday three of our dogs got put down because we weren’t able to find them homes… Or because of behavior issues outside or in the kennels… I try to alert myself and others to these potential dogs early as possible. This guys name is PAWS. Came in pretty beat up with injuries. Possibly abused? OR attacked? Volunteers and YOU are now aware he needs extra care. We have about 9-12 dogs hiding or cowering today... not all new to the shelter, #A1908370 named PAWS
