Where do I even begin?
A few months ago I learned that not only was I chosen to be an official Elinchrom Ambassador (AHHH 😭 /a goal of mine for what seems like an eternity); but that Elinchrom reached out to myself and my roommate @_emilyteague to share our story and create the main images for the global launch of their newest and most impressive studio lights; the ELC 125 & ELC 500.
I think I might be dreaming.
To those family and friends not apart of the photo world; Elinchrom is one of the top photography lighting companies in the world. I use their lights to create ALL my studio work; and have been fortunate enough to have met and became friends with the insanely passionate and kind humans that make up that company 🖤
I cannot explain how cool it feels to have been given this opportunity by them.
The concept was simple; They wanted us to create in our home studio images that got us out of our comfort zones. Essentially, two photographers using the same lights and the same studio but creating totally different work. For me; they wanted me to explore self portraiture in a new and adventurous way. Because (their words) putting yourself in the frame is quite the adventure in and of itself! As you can imagine; I had initial terror of being literally the “face” of a new product launch - but then I quickly found the can-do attitude of accepting the creative challenge. And then off I went to plan the most challenging and adventurous self portraits I could possibly dream up…
The whole project from start to finish pushed me in new ways; and spurred a whole new outlook on my style and photography. Since then; I've been extra conscious about trying new things and trying to grow with every photoshoot I plan. It has been so rewarding to see my work evolve - even just in these past few months.
Something I really don’t say ever; but I am actually really proud of the work I created with this project. There was SO much uncertainty and feelings of being an imposter - but I somehow managed to put it out of mind and just focus on creating work I love.
The biggest of thank you's to my incredible team, to all of you for your unfailing support, and to Elinchrom 🖤
I’m back in Oregon and it’s time to get on MY GRIND!
What are some helpful tips and tricks to getting back into the swing of things after a trip? I have already cleaned the whole house, but I still feel like I’m missing something 😂
